Adeno-associated virus vector capsid« Back to Glossary Index
Adeno-associated virus vector capsid (AAV vector capsid) refers to the empty protein shell of an AAV virus which can be used to carry a working copy of a gene into a target cell’s nucleus. The capsid can be modified so that the AAV vector will target specific cell types.
AAV vector capsids are used in adeno-associated virus gene therapy.
