Stakeholder refers to the broad range of communities that have a stake in generating useful and relevant healthcare research evidence. These include, but are not limited to: patients, families and caregivers; patient advocacy groups; clinicians; researchers; purchasers of health benefits for employees and their dependents; payers (public and private medical health insurers); industry; hospital and health systems; policy makers; and training institutions (health and medical professional educators).
